The United States Army Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (JROTC) was introduced to South Mountain in 1995. Since then our mission has always stayed the same. Our main goal and purpose of the JROTC program is "To motivate young people to become better citizens." Students enrolled in the JROTC program are referred to as cadets. Within the program these cadets will learn leadership and military skills, tips on how to be a great citizen, other life skills. The JROTC program also offers five teams within the program that are extracurricular and help students expand their knowlegde of the program. These teams include: Rifle Team, Drill Team, JLAB Team, Adventure Team, and Colorguard.
