    Here are your daily announcements for Wednesday, February 19th, 2020


       Today's weather report—

    It‘s a little cloudy today, and is going to get up to about 79 degrees.

    It is going to cool down to about 51 degrees tonight.


    Congratulations to the boys varsity soccer team who defeated San Luis High School Saturday afternoon!

    The final score was 3-2, with all three goals scored by our top scorer Marlon Arce!

    They will face Brophy tonight at 6:00pm!

    This is round 2 of the State play offs!

    Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students with an ID.

    Plan to attend to support our Boys Soccer team!


    The Varsity Softball team has a home scrimmage against Glendale High TODAY at 4:00 on the Varsity Softball field.

    Come on out and get your first look at this year’s team!!


    Girls Tennis try-outs will continue today and tomorrow on the tennis courts starting at 3:30 pm.

    Please be there on time!


    Juniors and seniors interested in powder puff or were involved with it last semester,

    there is a mandatory informational meeting on Friday, February 21st

    after school at 3:15 in room 1125!

    Wrestlers – If you have not already done so, please turn in all equipment to Coach Ortega in Rm 4118. 

    Also, the wrestling banquet will be this Friday at 6:30pm in the Yoga Room, which is next to the wrestling room.


    Think you missed your opportunity to wrestle?  Think again! 

    Open mats will begin on Tuesday, February 25th. 

    We will be learning about freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling – the same style of wrestling done in the Olympics! 

    This is open to all Alhambra students, regardless of whether or not you wrestled. 

    Also, wrestling lifting will begin on Monday, February 24th at 4:00pm. 

    In 2020, Alhambra wrestling is going Beast Mode, so that’s why it’s important that you’re lifting and practicing.

    Seniors please be reminded that we will hold our first Senior Assembly to prepare for YOUR graduation,

    this Friday, February 21st during advisory in the Auditorium.

    Remember to check into your advisory class and then move quickly to the auditorium for this very informational meeting.

    All seniors are required to attend this assembly on Friday.


       The Early Childhood Education class is getting ready for preschool.

    They are currently taking applications to enroll children.

    Do you know someone with a child that is 3-5 years old that would like to join the class?

    Stop by room 7001 and talk to Ms. Partin and get an application.


    Alhambra’s Got Talent!

    Sign up for our Third Annual “Alhambra’s Got Talent!”

     This talent show is open to ANYONE who has a talent they want to share!

    Can you sing?  Dance?  Play an instrument?  Ride a unicycle while juggling?  If you answered “yes”, then this is for YOU!

    Auditions are NEXT WEEK on Wednesday and Thursday, February 26 & 27 from 3:30-6:00 pm in the choir room. 

    The top 25 contestants will go on to perform in the Show!

     Sign up in the Choir Room before Monday, February 24th and come prepared to dazzle & shine!

    Each year, January 27th is celebrated as  International Holocaust Remembrance Day.

    This past January 27th Auschwitz Survivors were the most important guests of the event commemorating the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz.

    Approximately 200 survivors came to the Memorial from all over the world.

    For more information on this very important topic, you can visit the website Auschwitz.org

    or ask Mr. Brink for books on this topic that are available in the Alhambra library.
