Mrs. Lee Ann Silva

Hello. My name is Sra. Lee Ann Silva. I am from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I studied my undergraduate years at the University of Eau Claire, Wisconsin, where I studied Spanish Education (PreK-12) and English Education (6-12) and La Universidad de Valladolid in Spain, where I received my Spanish Philology Certificate. I started teaching Spanish and ENL (English as a new langauge) in 2004 at Cumberland High School, in Cumberland, Wisconsin. Then, I moved to Peru, where I taught English at the largest orphanage in South America, only to meet my husband and head back to teach again in the States, in Lafayette, Indiana at McCutcheon High School, where I served as the school's ENL coordinator and taught Spanish 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5. After having two boys (Gabriel and Caden) and celebrating my husband's completion of his PhD, we moved to Arizona, where my husband, Dr. Yasin Silva, teaches Computer Science and leads his field of research on a global scale. GO SUN DEVILS!  For the first several years in Arizona I focused on continuing to run my Educational Travel Company, Hands-on Spanish Travel, and raise my children. After a few years, our third child, Lily, was born. I stayed home with her until she was ready for preschool, and then I took the plunge to return to the profession I love. I am happy to say that I had the privilege of being very selective in where I work. With several offers, I chose to work in the most progressive and diverse district in the State of Arizona, Phoenix Union. I could not be happier to work at Alhambra High School. I love to teach Spanish here and I love leading my Yoga Club, The Lion's Zen. Helping students become more culturally and linguistically savvy is just as important to me as helping them to develop strong minds and bodies, so I could not have landed a more perfect fit! GO LIONS!

In my free time, I love to travel with my family, both Stateside and abroad. My favorite activities are siwmming, hiking, gardening and community organizing.

I look forward to seeing you in class or at yoga!

Sinceramente,

- Sra. Silva
