This course is designed as year two of a two year, higher level International Baccalaureate course. Students continue to develop their knowledge about the visual arts through individual exploration evidenced in the use of a Visual Arts Journal (sketchbook) as well as through completed studio work. While students explore various media and techniques of their choice, they also develop their own perspectives and approaches based on personal interests and aesthetic preferences. Students relate art to its cultural and historical contexts while exploring art concepts, elements of art, and principles of design. Students will participate in a spring exhibition of the artworks they completed throughout the two-year course. Students create the final assessment components required for the International Baccalaureate assessment. These components consist of the Comparative Study, Process Portfolio, and Exhibition.
