At the end of each semester, JROTC cadet fitness is tested with the Cadet Challenge where cadets participate in 5 events, including a mile run, a shuttle run, pull-ups, curl-ups, and the v-sit reach. Based on the result of the cadet's score on the events, a cadet may be awarded with a certificate, patch, medal, and ribbons.
