    MARYVALE IS A CLOSED CAMPUS. No student may leave campus until the end of the school day.

     

    BARRETT SUMMER SCHOLARS APPLICANTS: All gifted students applying for the Barrett Summer Scholars that are not in GTA, need to come by room 100 and see Mrs. Maxwell.

     

    THEATER : Maryvale’s Theatre Department presents “Rehearsal for Murder,” a murder mystery in two acts on February 15th and 16th at 6:00 pm in the auditorium. Pre-Sale tickets are $4 and $5 at the door. Join us in supporting the performing arts.

     

    TRAVEL CLUB: We are going to Snow Bowl in Flagstaff to ski and snowboard on Tuesday, March 13th. Don't worry if you don't know how to do either, an hour ski lesson is included in the trip price. If you would like to come with us and give it a try, please pick up a permission slip from Mr. Guzak or Mrs. Shanahan. Permission slips and money are due by March. Turn in yours asap to reserve your spot!

     

    SCHOOL PICTURES: Attention freshmen, sophomores and juniors-your pictures from Duke have arrived. Purchased pictures may be picked up in the bookstore before school, during both lunches or after school from now until Wednesday, February 14.

     

    MARYVALE CHOIRS: Last Saturday two of MHS choirs competed at the Northern Arizona University Jazz/Madrigal Choir Festival. The MHS Intermediate Cantabile Women’s Choir received their third Excellent. AND, the MHS Advanced Bella Voce Women’s Choir received the highest score in every category for the second year in a row... a Superior in every category.


    JUNIORS: Did you know that taking the ACT is a two part process. The week of February 19th you will complete the pre-bubble form of your test, as well as an Interest Inventory. February 27th will be the actual test day. Remember it is all about preparation, and this is one of the college entrance exams that you have the ability to take.

     

    GRADUATING SENIORS: There is a government program available to help provide financial assistance for college. The Free Application for Federal Student Aid or (FAFSA) provides money to help you pay for college. If you need help completing your FAFSA please see Miss Moore in the counseling office on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:00 until 2:00.

     

    GSA: The GSA will begin meeting every Monday, afterschool in room 906. We will be planning the Day of Silence and other fun activities. If you have any questions, see Ms. Deahl in room 906 or Ms. Schexnayder in room 315.

     

    NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY/TRUE IDENTITY/JROTC: This Wednesday is the field trip to Encanto Palms Assisted Living complex for the Valentine's Party for the elderly. Please dress nicely or in your uniforms. We will depart at 2:50pm. All permission forms are due ASAP - first come, first served. Seating is limited.

     

    TRACK AND FIELD: There will be a team meeting TODAY in Room 601 at 2:47 p.m. Please be prompt. Thank you for your commitment to excellence!!

    STUDENTS: Central High School, would like to invite our school community to their Hip Hop and STEP Showcase called" Rep Your School," taking place February 23rd from 6-8 p.m. Admission is free. It is a showcase to promote unity within the step and hip hop communities. It is not a competition but a collaborative event in which various schools within our district will be participating.

     

    BLACK HISTORY MONTH: Please take a moment to consider and/or discuss the following quote by Marian Wright Edelman, an American activist for the rights of children and disadvantaged Americans: “YOU REALLY CAN CHANGE THE WORLD IF YOU CARE ENOUGH."
